Carpet Fibres

100% Wool
  • Wool is a natural fibre
  • It is sustainable and biodegradable
  • Non-hypoallergenic
  • Easy to vacuum clean
  • Very good stain resistance, due to its hard external fibre
  • Excellent pile crushing resistence, due to the spring back nature of the crimp of wool
  • Acts as a temperature & noise insulator
  • Flame resistent due to its natural high moisture content
  • Static resistance
  • Absorbs airborn particles, improving and purifying the air for up to 30 years

100% Nylon (BCF)
  • Durable and resilient
  • Greater colour choice due to Nylons ability to more readily accept dye
  • Can stain more easily if left untreated
  • Verstile and can be constructed into any style of carpet
  • Excellent pile crushing resistance

Wool Nylon blend (50/50 or 80/20)
  • Blend carpets are made from varying proportions of wool & synthetic fibres
  • Durable and improved wearing due to the 2 fibres being spun together
  • Used primarily in Cut Plush pile and Twist pile

Polypropylene
  • 100% synthetic fibres
  • Less expensive yarn
  • Similar benefits to nylon fibres
  • Excellent stain resistance
  • Excellent colourfastness
  • Static resistance
  • Easy to clean
  • Commonly used in rental properties

Solution Dyed Nylon
  • Consistency in colour and improved colourfastness due to the colour being added to the fibre as it is made rather than after.
  • Great durability carpet
  • Superior stain resistance due to being non-porous
  • Odour resistant
  • Resistant to wear
  • Wider choice of carpet colours

Alpaca Fleece

Why Alpaca?

Renowned as one of the World's most luxurious fibres, alpaca is silky soft to touch yet extremely strong and durable. Although mostly thought of as a clothing fibre, it has excellent inherent fire-retardancy, thermal and acoustic properties.

Velieris is the wolrd oioneer of natural undyed alpaca carpets. The Alpaca Collection is created from a blend of Australian and Peruvian alpaca. The natural colours of alpaca are very rich and diverse with colours that are not found in the fleece of other animals.

The 5 wall-to-wall broadloom ranges in loop, cut and deep - pile styles are available in 6 lustrous colours range from white to deep charcoal.

INVISTA™ 6,6 Nylon Fibre

The Fibre Technology System

All STAINMASTER® carpet is made with type 6,6 nylon, which has the strength and resilience to deliver excellent resistance to wear, texture loss, and crushing. Type 6,6 nylon has a unique polymer structure in the fibre that combines with our patented, specially-engineered fibre shapes to deliver carpets with outstanding performance compared to ordinary carpets of wool, polyester, nylon 6, or polypropylene. These premium-fibre properties and the use of bulked continuous filament (BCF) technology protect against fibre loss and shedding under foot traffic, and provide you with brilliant appearance retention, so that your new carpet stays looking good longer!

DuPont™ Triexta

Godfrey Hirst Carpets has combined innovative carpet manufacturing with breakthrough polymer technology from DuPont™ to develop Godfrey Hirst eco+®, the next generation carpet.

The Sorona polymer in Godfrey Hirst eco+® is made by unlocking and harnessing the solar energy stored within corn and separating naturally occurring compounds. The natural sugar component is then used to create the unique monomer that is joined with others to form the DuPont™ Sorona® polymer.

By using renewable, farm grown materials, Sorona® places less reliance on non-renewable resources and generates less greenhouse gas emissions to produce.*

*Greenhouse gas emissions from the production of Sorona® are 63% lower than nylon 6 (CISO standard 14040).
